Tom Klausen
Owner, True Viking Finance
Years of Finance Experience: 30
This is where I started and learned the basics:
After earning my BCom I started out in collections where I learned the world of finance from the inside out. This helped as I moved into marketing and began working directly with business owners. I spent a lot of time introducing the concept of factoring to the banking community of Western Canada.
This has been the main focus of my career in business finance:
Working with Small and Mid Sized Business owners to help them find access to working capital and manage cash flow.
These are the industries, size and type of business I usually worked with:
Small and mid-sized businesses focused on manufacturing, import/export, distribution and B2B Services providers. Rapid growth situations ranging from $50k per month to $1 million per month as well as turnarounds. Cross-border situations are my specialty.
This is where I am located and what I am currently doing:
I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and I now spend time in various parts of Canada and half my time in the US. i work with both US and Canadian businesses as well as the challenges of cross border financing
This is how I might be of value to a business owner:
During our initial 30-minute conversation I try to get to know the business, the situation and the immediate needs quickly. Only then can I outline what financing options might be available and answer all the questions around that.
It is important for business owners to not only know the costs involved but also how to manage the new debt in both the short and long term. I try to make sure there is a good understanding of how each works and how to best manage them.
If a business owner is interested in moving forward, I can help them to find the best lender or lenders, make the best first impression and get the best possible deal in the shortest period of time. I save my clients; time, money and frustration.
